History

Kyoto was the resident of Imperial families for over 1000 years from 794.

In 2007, the Kyoto Protocol was approved at the Kyoto Conference Hall, only 7 km away from Brighton Hotel. There we committed ourselves to be a responsible member of global family.

Established in 1988 and named after a British resort, Brighton in East Sussex where the King and the aristocrats spent much of their leisure time, Brighton Hotel is an urban resort hotel where you can comfort yourself with the sun, water and greenery in the heart of Kyoto.

Since its establishment in 1988, the hotel has been privileged to enjoy serving esteemed guests from in and out of Kyoto.

The Mayor of Brighton kindly attended our opening in 1988. Before the opening, the city of Brighton accepted our staff for British hospitality training.

The residences of the Tea Masters, the Noh theatre, the studios of traditional artists are all in the vicinity of hotel. It is the district chosen by the ancestors of these masters who sought a place to ennoble their sense of art.

The masters of traditional arts have been passing down their duty in their families for more than 400 years in the area where the hotel is situated.

Atmosphere

Breezes of green, the ray of sunshine, the chanting of water, all blend into the arts of Kyoto.

Brighton Hotel begins with quality conscious mind.

The sun shines softly into the atrium through the vaulted ceiling 23m above the lobby where the underground water murmurs into a stream and fresh greenery comfort your afternoon tea time.

Early in the evening, relax in candle light in the lobby before your important meeting.

All water used in the hotel is supplied from our privately dug well from 100m deep. The soft alkalescent water is the treasure of Kyoto that upgrades delicacies on your tables and smoothen your skin in your Japanese style bath.

Kyoto Brighton Hotel is always filled with the air of art. The atrium changes its facade one day as a concert hall, another as a stage of opera or a gallery, and it transmits an aura of culture to the people of Kyoto.

In the lobby lounge, relax a moment with a pot of organic herb tea, freshly delivered daily from Mt. Hiei. A selection of books published in Kyoto is in the lobby lounge to show you the insights of Kyoto.

How about a morning stroll to breathe the fresh air in the woods and feel the seasons with the twittering of birds? A three minute walk through the antiquated lines of houses will take you to the Imperial Palace Park.
